FAQ

When can I move in?

If there is a storage space available that meets your specific storage needs you can move in anytime during normal access hours.

How much notice needs to be given before I move out?

We request a 15-day written notice before you move out to avoid any charges for the next month’s rent.

What type of documentation do I need to provide in order to rent a space?

We require a government issued ID (example: driver’s license, state ID, or passport).

Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

No, our leases are month-to-month. We only require a 15-day notice prior to the end of your current rental term to vacate the unit.

Does there have to be someone in the office to let me through the security gates?

Generally, no. At most locations you will be given your own security pass code that will allow you access to your unit. However, a few locations require you to access the storage area through the office. We do offer 24-hour access at some locations as well. Please consult with the specific location you wish to store at for further details.

How do I make a payment?

You can pay in person, mail a check or money order or make a payment through our website or mobile app. You may also sign up to have payments automatically deducted from your credit card or bank account monthly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All locations accept checks, money orders, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Some Prime locations are cashless so we encourage you to contact your local Prime Storage facility to confirm.

Do you sell boxes and storage supplies?

Yes. We sell various moving supplies in our office (varies by location).

How do I know how much storage space I will need?

You can either use our Storage Size Guide on our website or contact your local Prime Storage facility for additional assistance.

Do I need to bring my own lock?

A lock must be placed on your unit at time of rental. We have locks available for purchase in our office.

Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

Liquids, explosives, firearms, flammable liquids, toxic materials and perishables, among other items – see your lease agreement for full details. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

Do I need insurance for my storage unit?

Prime Storage does not insure the contents of your storage unit for you, and you are required to maintain coverage to protect any stored contents from loss or damage. You may do this by enrolling in the Prime Protection Plan or submitting evidence of an existing insurance policy that covers remotely stored goods by providing a copy of your policy’s declaration page. See our Prime Protection Page for further details.
